Robert Carnahan, Principal

Robert Carnahan has been Associate Dean for Research at the University of South Florida (USF) since 1993. His research interests include the application of membrane filtration in water treatment, wastewater treatment and industrial waste treatment, and biological and physical/chemical treatment of wastewaters and industrial waste. He is also interested in the application of innovative technology for the recycling and reuse of wastewaters to be used toward the treatment and disposal of hazardous materials.

 

Previously, Carnahan oversaw National Water Resource Institute (NWRI) NWRI’s Center for Water Treatment Technologies at USF. In addition, he was named a Diplomat in the American Academy of Environmental Engineers in 1987 and was elected to the American Desalting Association’s Hall of Fame in 1998. Carnahan received a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Sanitary Engineering from the University of North Carolina, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems Engineering from Clemson University.

 

Carnahan is also active in a myriad of community and civic organizations. For example, he has served as Chair of the Hillsborough River Board and Technical Advisory Council for four consecutive years, and a member of both The Mayor’s of Tampa and the City Council of Tampa Environmental Rountables for two consective years.
